Sports Performance in Cottonwood Heights

For healthy and recovered athletes who want more out of their body: objective testing that finds the gaps, then training built to close them.

Test first. Then close the gap.

Sports rehab gets an injured athlete back. Sports performance starts where that ends. It is for the athlete who is already healthy, or already finished rehab, and wants more out of the body they have. Your Doctor of Physical Therapy evaluates movement patterns, biomechanics, posture, balance, coordination and flexibility, then measures what your sport actually asks of you.

That evaluation gives us two lists: strengths to leverage and weaknesses to address. The program is built from those lists. Targeted strength work, mobility, and movement retraining aimed at power, speed, acceleration, deceleration and endurance. Same clinic model as everything else here: one patient at a time, your therapist in the room the whole appointment.

Numbers first, then the work.

The First Hour

Your first visit runs about an hour and starts with your sport, your position and what you are trying to do better. Then the movement screen, the balance and flexibility assessment, and objective strength testing on our VALD equipment.

The Program

We build it off the testing, not off a template. Targeted strength, mobility and movement retraining for the gaps we found, sequenced through our 4-phase program: reduce pain, prevent, prime, perform.

Retest

Same tests, same equipment, later date. The numbers tell you whether the program is working, and your Doctor of Physical Therapy is with you the entire appointment, every visit, to adjust it.

Gains you can point to.

The work targets the attributes your sport actually runs on, and the retest tells you whether they moved.

Power, Speed and Agility

Targeted strength and skill work aimed at the qualities your sport depends on: power, speed, agility, endurance, acceleration and deceleration.

Lower Injury Risk

Weakness, asymmetry and muscle guarding get found and addressed before they cost you part of a season.

Cleaner Movement

Coaching on your sport-specific mechanics so you recruit the right muscles at the right time and stop leaking energy.

Better Recovery Between Sessions

Soft tissue work, cupping, dry needling and compression, so a hard training block builds you up instead of wearing you down.
